What you can upload
This page accepts MP3 only, up to 100MB per file (as shown in the uploader). If your source is WAV, M4A, or video, convert or extract audio first using Convert Audio Format or the home converter for video-to-MP3, then trim here.
How trimming works on this page
- Upload your MP3; the editor loads a waveform using your browser.
- Select the region to keep by dragging handles on the waveform or typing Start and End times (minutes and seconds).
- Preview with the play control to hear only the selection.
- Choose the output format if you need something other than MP3—options include M4A, M4R (ringtone), FLAC, WAV, OGG, OPUS, AIFF, WMA, and CAF.
- Click Save to process on the server, then download before files expire.
Trimming is destructive in the sense that the downloaded file only contains the chosen range; keep a backup of the original if you might need the full track later.
Tips for clean edits
- Zoom mentally with the waveform—quiet intros and outros are easier to place when you match peaks and gaps to what you hear.
- For ringtones, keep the clip short (often under 30 seconds depending on the phone) and consider M4R export for iPhone.
- If you need a specific bitrate or sample rate after cutting, use Change Audio Quality on the exported file.
- To add title, artist, or cover art to the result, use the main MP3 Toolbox tag editor.
Privacy and retention
Uploaded and processed files are deleted automatically after about 15 minutes. Do not use the tool for material you are not allowed to copy or share. Details: Privacy and Terms.
Combine clips instead?
Trimming takes one file down to a range. To join multiple tracks into one file, use Merge Audio. Step-by-step for both tools is in Cut and merge audio online.
Technical reference
Server-side behavior and validation are outlined in How it works. Supported extensions and format notes appear on Formats.
Frequently asked questions
Will trimming reduce quality?
Exporting to lossy formats (MP3, M4A, etc.) means re-encoding that segment, which can add a generation of compression. For archival snippets, consider FLAC or WAV output when you need minimum loss from the decode/encode cycle, and keep your original MP3 safe.
Can I cut multiple files at once?
The interface is designed for one MP3 at a time. Reload the page or use “Cut another file” after each export.
Do I need to install software?
No. The waveform runs in the browser; encoding runs on our servers after you click Save.
