Convert Image
Change an image between JPEG, PNG and WebP. The conversion happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no queue to wait in.

Which format for what
- JPEG — Photographs. Lossy, no transparency, understood by everything ever made.
- PNG — Screenshots, logos, diagrams, anything with flat colour or transparency. Lossless, larger.
- WebP — Both jobs at once, typically 25–35% smaller than the equivalent JPEG or PNG. Every current browser displays it; some older desktop software still does not.
Conversions that cost you something
PNG to JPEG discards detail permanently, because JPEG is lossy. For a photograph that is fine and the saving is large. For a screenshot of text it is the wrong move — the edges smear, and the file often grows rather than shrinks.
JPEG to PNG adds nothing back. The detail the JPEG threw away is gone; PNG simply stops any further loss. It is worth doing before editing, not for storage.
Anything to JPEG loses transparency. There is no alpha channel in JPEG, so transparent pixels have to become something — here, white.
Why the browser and not a server
Image decoding and encoding are built into every browser. Sending a file to a server to do work the machine can already do adds an upload, a wait and a copy of your image on someone else's disk. This page keeps all three out of the way — and it works offline.
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep my EXIF data?
No. Converting redraws the image, and metadata does not survive. That is usually welcome — see Remove EXIF if it is the reason you came.
Can it convert HEIC from an iPhone?
Only where the browser can decode HEIC, which in practice means Safari. Elsewhere, export as JPEG on the phone first.
Is there a file limit?
30MB, and it is about memory rather than policy — very large images can exhaust the tab.
